How to Control Smoking?

Many people turn to alternative medicine such as acupressure to treat various medical injuries, illnesses, emotional problems and addictions. Some individuals have found acupressure has helped them quit smoking. By applying pressure to certain points on the body it may help reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings.
• Step 1- - Create a relaxing environment. Acupressure works partially because it promotes relaxation. Find a location where you will not be interrupted. Play relaxing music or light candles.
• Step 2 - - Locate the pressure points on the body that help control smoking. There are several different ones. One point is just below the breastbone. Another point is on your arm, on the crease inside of the elbow, on the side of your thumb.
• Step 3 - - Use your fingers or knuckles to apply firm pressure. You can also use the eraser on a pencil. It should be firm enough that you may feel a slight ache, but it should not be painful. Stop if you feel pain.
• Step 4 - - Apply steady pressure for fifteen to thirty seconds. If you are using the acupressure point in your arm, apply pressure to the other side of the body for the same amount of time. Wait a minute and reapply pressure a few times.
• Step 5 - - Contact the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. The organization can provide information on how to find an acupuncturist in your area who also specializes in using acupressure.

Cigarettes are a very efficient drug- which goes right to the Brain. Each puff on a cigarette sends nicotine to the brain within 10 seconds. Immediately, we feel more alert and calm. Sometimes euphoric. It feels good, so we have another puff. And another. Soon the brain's chemical structure actually changes. It becomes hooked into wanting more and more nicotine to make the effects last.

It isn’t easy to quit smoking; you need plenty of willpower and all the help you can get cigarettes and nicotine are an addiction and nicotine is a drug. A drug and a powerful one that can kill you.

Everyone understands what cigarette smoking can do to you and the serious illnesses it causes, but people have become brainwashed, to the point they believe it will not happen to them. Until it does.
It’s only now that the social acceptance of smoking is changing. This is reflected in numerous laws banning smoking in public places and the ever increasing taxation on cigarettes.
Normally, glands in the interior lining of the lungs constantly produce mucus. Together with dirt and bacteria, the mucus is expelled from the lungs by the action of cilia or small hair-like projections.

Beating your addiction means being able to stand up and say no when cigarettes are offered to you. This is difficult and requires a lot of willpower but if you have help from smoking patches the task is made that much easier.
